"Buckwheat" Green Collar Male $4,500

Buckwheat is a really fun, well-balanced little guy who showed us a nice mix of independence and connection during his temperament test. He was willing to move through many of the obstacles on his own instead of waiting for Austin to help him, but he still had that high human focus that tells us his people are going to be very important to him.

 

A couple of things startled him during the test, which is completely normal, and what we loved was watching him recover and move on instead of getting stuck in the moment. He has medium confidence, energy, and assertiveness, paired with high motivation to work, so he feels like a puppy who has enough personality to be fun without constantly needing to run the show.

I can picture Buckwheat fitting beautifully into a family that wants their dog to really be part of their life. His ideal day might include a morning walk, hanging around while the kids play in the yard, a quick training session where he gets to show off how smart he is, and then settling in with everyone at the end of the day.

 

He has enough independence to investigate the world without constantly needing reassurance, but his strong human focus means he is still going to want to come back and see what his people are doing.

 

Continued socialization will be especially important for Buckwheat so those little startles become opportunities to learn that new things are no big deal. Pair that with consistent puppy training, and he has a wonderful starting temperament for becoming a confident, connected family dog.
