"Porky" Yellow Collar Male $4,500

Porky is such a willing little guy, and “biddable” is probably the best word to describe him. He started the temperament test with lower confidence, but it was really neat to watch him warm up as the test went on. Instead of shutting down when he was unsure, he relied on Austin, kept trying, and seemed perfectly happy to let his person show him what to do next.

 

He almost melted into whatever Austin asked of him. With high motivation, high human focus, strong resiliency, and a naturally low energy level, Porky has the makings of a puppy who is going to find a lot of joy in simply working with and being close to his person. He is also low assertive and submissive with other dogs, so he is much more likely to follow than insist on being the one in charge.

Porky’s ideal family is one that wants a gentle companion and is excited to help a puppy discover that the world is a really fun place. I can picture his perfect day starting with a walk or school drop-off with his person, followed by a little training session where he gets to hear what a good boy he is, and then a long nap somewhere close by while the house goes about its day.

 

He has the potential to be that dog you can take along because his natural response is, “Just tell me what we're doing.” The biggest thing his family will need to work on is confidence. Instead of rescuing or coddling him when he is unsure, give him safe opportunities to figure things out and celebrate when he does.

 

With continued socialization, training, and lots of positive experiences, I think it will be incredibly rewarding to watch this little guy realize just how capable he really is.
